I was probably 5 years old the first time I asked Dad "can I stand up?" and that was in the backseat of a moving vehicle! lol.. He was driving of course. I wanted to see what HE was seeing. He was in control, and I trusted him. I was too little, too short to see over the backseat. I wanted to SEE..over the backseat..to what was ahead of us.
That was back when some kids toys were still made of metal, with metal frames and metal screws and peices fell off and everything was still ok so ... don't judge Dad for letting me stand up. That's the greatest thing he ever did for me, and continued to do for me throughout our relationship.
When I a bit older, elementary school, middle school, on into highscool I started finding myself at times troubled by the thoughts and ways of the people around me. I won't get into specifics but your instincts tell you when something isn't right.
I was still unsure of myself then so I would talk to my father, my friend..the man I trust the most. "Am I wrong? .. can i stand up?"
He said no not wrong, and yes stand up everytime.
Dad validated my feelings, my morals, and my heart. He taught me how to stand up, told me it was ok to stand up, and always wants me to keep standing up.
I will remember and carry on everything Dad. I love you...thank you for teaching me how to be a human being.

Words will never be enough to truly express just how deep my love is, and always will be for you. You taught me so much about the importance of showing love unconditionally to others, and how powerful the bond that it creates. You are so much more than an extraordinary father, tho. You were a best friend, a great role model, and a hero my entire life. There was nothing I that I ever felt like I couldn't talk to you about. You never once gave up on me even during times where everyone else had including myself. I truly am going to miss hearing, "Just promise to keep on, keepin' on. Okay, son?" I love you, more than life itself, Dad. Bye for now.

I always had an invincible bond with Jim and his incredibly loving and caring, entire family. Jim was a humble man. To many people who did not know him well, he seemed quiet, remaining private as was his choice. Yet, he had the strength of character, gentleness, and an authenticity, that as yet, remains unsurpassed. He was "one of a kind" as one of his children wrote in a memorial to him. Yes, that is completely true. Jim is a "one-of-a-kind", beautiful Soul. I can imagine him now, playing his guitar and entertaining the Angels with his song. Love is Eternal and so is his Soul.

Very shortly after I met and fell in love with his son, Paul, he couldn't wait to introduce me to his father. The first phone call of many lasted like most others, for hours. Jim very quickly became like a dad to me also as he welcomed me with open arms into his family. When we went to visit him at his home in Sylva in March, I felt like I also, was being welcomed home to the place my family, were as if we were where we always belonged. I loved sharing conversations with Jim about spreading love and positivity, and joy into the world, and he was always so excited to share new places and experiences with me. I admired his energy when talking about the things he loved. His children always being at the top of that list above all else. Very quickly followed by his love of all things musical. How I wish I had more time to share with him.
Jim, I promise to carry on your legacy of love and compassion with your son, reminding him to always seek out the greatness that is all around us. I love you, Jim. Thank you so much for all the love you've shown me, and my children, and for raising such amazing children. We miss you. Rest well Jim.

I never met Mr. Lindgren, but as a staff member of JC Transit I always enjoyed talking with him when he called to schedule his transportation. I will miss him, and may God grant his family comfort and peace.

Dad, I didn’t express enough my love for you. You taught me how to be free, & love myself for who I am. I wish I could have told you one more time, how much you mean to me. Give the twins a BIG hug & kiss from me.

May my big brother be at peace, united with the source of all light and love and music. May his spirit rejoice in a life fully lived. May we celebrate him by recalling all the love and joy and blue notes he has ever shared, and may we live on in the belief that we will see him again.

Dear Loved Ones,
We have been out of touch for so many years, but I remember those happy times when we were young and the "boys" (Jimmy & Johnny) chased us around Grandma Sellers' home in Canton. Now, one of us "kids" has been called home.
I want you to know now that I have thought of those happy times more often than you might guess. I am thinking of you now in sadder times.
With deepest sympathy,
Cathy
