Obituary of Kathleen Buchanan

Kathleen Buchanan, 91, of Sylva, passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2018. A native of Macon County, she was the daughter of the late Burell and Nena Mason. Kathleen was a member of Greens Creek Baptist Church and she loved quilting, canning, gardening, tending to her flowers and just taking care of her family. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband; Russell Buchanan, her daughter; Patricia, her son; Van D. Buchanan as well as her brothers; Eddie, Carl and Jackie and her sisters; Jenevieve and Mattie. She is survived by her daughter- Thelma (Earl) Queen of Cullowhee 3 Grandsons- Rick, Joe and Dale Buchanan 7 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Grandson 2 Sisters- Frances and Drew and her brother- Cardal Several nieces and nephews also survive A Memorial Service will be held 3:00 PM Sunday November 18, 2018 in the Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services with the Rev. Eddie Stillwell officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm until 3:00 prior to the Service at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Savannnah Fire Department, 18 Ralph Tatham Rd, Sylva,NC 28779 or to the Jackson County Shop with a Cop Program, 399 Grindstaff Cove Rd, Sylva, NC 28779.
