Obituary of Harold Oscar Majors

Harold Oscar Majors, 77, of Whittier, died December 24, 2018. A native of Washington, D.C., he was the son of Oscar and Margaret Majors. He was married and started his family in Tampa, Florida, before moving to North Carolina in 1980. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he rose to the rank of captain in the 26th Regiment North Carolina Troops, a Civil War reenactment group. Prior to retirement, he worked as head mechanic at C&S Chain Saw in Sylva and as owner/operator of his own business, Harold's Small Engine Repair, for 10 years. In retirement he enjoyed reading, traveling and woodworking. In addition to his parent, a sister, Violet, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Pamela S. Majors; daughters Lisa Majors-Duff of Gatlinburg, TN, and Jennifer Majors of Florence, SC; granddaughter Nakiska 'Niki' Duff of Asheville; a sister, Betty Huet of Merritt Island, FL.; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial and celebration of life gathering will be planned in the spring. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Great Smoky Mountains Association, P.O. Box 130, Gatlinburg, TN, 37738.
