Obituary of Edith Irene Powell

Edith Irene Webster Powell, 95 passed away peacefully surrounded by family Thursday February 7, 2019. She was a native and lifelong resident of Jackson County. 

She was born March 21, 1923 to the late Herbert and Emma Webster. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her spouse; William “Troy” Powell, two daughters; Bobby Sue Powell and Joyce Powell McMahan and son; James David Powell.  She was also preceded by daughter in law Linda Bowers Powell, son in Law Ronnie Sitton, two sisters; Nettie Passmore (Willie), Virginia Donaldson (JB), and three brothers; Floyd Webster (Maude), Earl Webster, and Junior Webster.

She is survived by her children; William Powell (Phyllis), Narvel Powell, Wayne Powell (Donna), Cathey Powell Sitton, Joann Powell Gibson (Tim), and Randall Powell (Janilla) along with a son in Law;  Dickie McMahan.

She is also survived by her grandchildren; Ben Powell (Cathy), Becky Powell Nicholson (Russell), Melissa McMahan Buchanan (Brandon), Kristy McMahan (Josh), James Carter, Jennifer Carter Peed (Jim), Jason Wilson (Colleen) Max Powell (Ashely) and Steven Powell.

14 Great-Grandchildren, 1 Great-great grandchild and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Memorial services will be held on Sunday, February 10, 2019 at 4:00 pm at Appalachian Funeral Services Chapel with Rev. Jeff Powell officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
