Obituary of Brenda Lee Shuler

Brenda Lee Shuler June 25, 1954 — Feb. 25, 2019 Brenda Lee Shuler, 64, of Whittier, N.C., a devoted mother and caregiver, passed away Feb. 25, 2019. Brenda was born June 25, 1954, in Bryson City, N.C. She was preceded in death by her cherished husband, Sammy Ralph Shuler; her father, Jerry Houston; and her mother, Hazel Lee Elders. She is survived by three daughters, Susan Thayer (Willie) of Whittier, and Lisa Maney (Daniel), and Mary Johnson, both of Sylva, N.C.; a brother, Virgil Houston; a sister, Sherrie Buchanan; her half-siblings; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Brenda loved her family with her entire being. She also loved her cats and trips to the beach. She was the family beacon and a care giver to all. A funeral service is planned for 2 p.m. Friday in the Appalachian Funeral Services chapel with the Rev. Eddie Stillwell officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to service time at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Raymond Elders Family Cemetery in Whittier.
