Obituary of Cindy Revis Rigdon

Cindy Revis Rigdon, 77, of Sylva, passed peacefully on Friday, March 22, 2019.

A native and life-long resident of Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Jewel and Gertie Revis of the Barker’s Creek community. Cindy was a member of Faith Baptist Church. She worked in banking many years, retiring from Wachovia Bank, and later from United Community Bank. Cindy enjoyed travelling, being with her sisters, and her church. But, mostly, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren whom she loved and adored.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 46 years, Carroll Rigdon. She was also preceded in death by her sisters Mary Branson (Vernon), Stella Dowis (Bob), and Carolyn Middleton (Charles), sister-in-law Joyce Revis, brothers-in-law Bob Parker and Jim Sherrill, nephew Clay Rigdon, and niece Karen Sherrill.

She is survived by her son Joe Rigdon (Elizabeth) and grandchildren, Lily Rigdon and Lucas Rigdon, of Sylva. She is also survived by brothers G.W. Revis (Pat), James Revis (Betty), Claude Revis, and Bob Revis (Ellen), and sisters Peggy Rigdon (Frank), Sarah Parker, and Nancy Sherrill, all of Sylva and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her special girls, Kennedy, Angelica, and Kim.

A celebration of Cindy’s life will be held Sunday, March 24, 2019 at Faith Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 4:00 PM. The funeral service will follow at 4:00 PM with the Rev. Peter Mudge and the Rev. J.D. Grant officiating. Cindy will be laid to rest immediately following the service at Fairview Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests memorials be made to Four Seasons Hospice or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
