Obituary of Delana Sue Guffey

“I must have been special to be given 65 roses”

Delana Sue Guffey, 23, of Sylva, NC passed away Sunday April 7, 2019 after a lifelong battle with Cystic Fibrosis.  She is the Daughter of Mike Guffey and Delisa (David) Pressley.

Delana loved to be outdoors fishing and also enjoyed photography. She loved dogs especially her own baby Athena. She was a lifelong warrior of Cystic Fibrosis, very strong willed and an inspiration to her family and everyone around her.

In addition to her parents she is survived by her grandparents Wanda and Joe Clayton; great grandmother Della Mae Fox; One step brother Timothy Pressley; Uncles Lee (Mary) Hill, Michael Hill, Wade (Shirley) Guffey, Ron Guffey, Rad Guffey and Kenneth Fox; Aunts Tina Wilson, Jean Cabe and Claudine Mace. Many loving cousins also survive.

Preceding her in death are grandparents Frank and Etta Guffey; grandfather Burton Hill; great grandfather Claude Fox; uncle Larry Mace and cousin Mickey Mace.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, April 13, 2019 at 2:00pm in the Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services with Rev. Eddie Stillwell officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 2:00pm prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 4550 Montgomery Ave. Suite 110N Bethesda, MD 20814.
