Obituary of Pamela Renee Parks
Pamela Napier Parks, 55, of Statesville went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 1, 2019 after a five-year courageous battle with cancer. She was the wife of the Rev. John Parks and the daughter of Dale and Inez Napier.
Pamela was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church and also enjoyed worshipping at Front Street Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Liberty University. She was disability retired from the Iredell Statesville School System having taught eighth grade History and Social Studies at North Iredell Middle School for many years. Pamela loved her students and enjoyed having an impact on many of their lives. While at NIMS, she developed a close relationship with the veterans of North Iredell American Legion Post 113. She loved the veterans of North Iredell and enjoyed promoting relationships between them and the students of North Middle. Because of her devotion to “her” veterans, she was inducted into the Chapel of the Four Chaplains in Philadelphia, an organization which recognizes appreciation for our military.
Pamela loved hiking and spending times outdoors and never met a lighthouse that she didn’t attempt to climb. She loved working in her flowers and her little garden. She was a student of the Bible and enjoyed sharing Jesus Christ with others. Her desire in recent years was that God would show Himself mighty in her life.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents; Burl Napier of Statesville and Lucille Napier of Frametown, WV and Cecil and Nanna Moyers of Sutton, WV. She was also preceded in death by her father-in-law; Rev. JC Parks, a sister-in-law; Cheryl Wooten, along with several aunts, uncles and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband of 33 years; Rev. John Parks, two sons; Justin and Jared (Hannah) as well as by one daughter; Jonna. One grandson; Landen Dale Horne also survives and he absolutely was the light of her life. One brother; Randy (Jenny) Napier, her mother-in-law; Frances Parks, along with several aunts and uncles as well as nieces, nephews and cousins also are left to cherish her memory.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at Front Street Baptist Church at 2:00 pm. Revs. Tim Stutts, Tom Blackburn and John Parks will officiate. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery with Rev. Tony Bunton presiding over the committal service. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Nicholson Funeral Home.
The family will also be receiving friends Monday, June 3 from 5:00 until 7:00 pm at Appalachian Funeral Services in Sylva.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the North Iredell American Legion Post 113 of Harmony, NC or to Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County.
The family wishes to thank the staff of the Gordon Hospice House for their wonderful care of Pamela. Words cannot express our love and appreciation for all of you.
