Obituary of Bonnie Cope
Bonnie Monteith Cope 94 of Andrews, passed away on Friday June 15, 2012
She was born in Jackson County, NC on 6 October 1917, daughter of the late John Bird Monteith and Minnie Lee Ward Monteith.
Bonnie was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sylva where she taught in the nursery department for forty years, before moving to Andrews in 1998, when she became a member of Andrews Baptist Church. She was an Insurance agent for Western Carolina Insurance Agency, Wachovia Insurance Agency, Alexander and Alexander and Sullivan Company. Bonnie graduated from the first Secretary course from Cullowhee Teachers College, Valedictorian of Sylva High School class of 1935, Member of Ruby Daniel Circle and Volunteer for the Hospital Auxiliary.
Survivors: Sons and daughters-in-law: G. Kenneth and Priscilla Cope of Andrews, Philip Barton and June Cope of Knoxville, TN. Daughter and son-in-law Betty and John W. Andrews, III of Jacksonville, FL. Five grandchildren: Colonel Anne Andrews Konnath, (Scott), Walter Barton Andrews, John W. Andrews,IV (Rhonda), Mitzi Cope Hardin (Barry), Lindsey Cope. Eight great-grandchildren: Andrew Justin Konnath, Matthew Austin Konnath, Joshua Barton Andrews, Kyle Ray Andrews, Tyler Jonathan Andrews, Jackson Robert Andrews, Justin Quade Hardin and Ethen Blake Hardin.
Preceded in Death By: In addition to her parents, her husband William Barton Cope, two sons James Edwin Cope and Charles Eugene Cope. Sisters: Edith Russell and Thelma Moody. Brothers: D. Lewis Monteith, Lauriston C. Monteith and J. Millard Monteith.
A Memorial Service will be held 3:00 PM Tuesday June 19, 2012 at Sylva First Baptist Church with the Dr. Calvin Bobo and Rev. Jeff Mathis officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 until 3:00 PM at the Church. Burial will follow in Keener Cemetery
