Tommy coached our son Max many years of County and Travel Basketball. He always had that smile on his face and encouraged our boys. I often hear them talking about coach Tommy and sharing memories that they will have for the rest of their lives. Our thought and prayers are with Tommy’s family and friends.

Tommy was like a little brother to me. He was always hanging around my younger sisters and brother. We all lived on "the creek", rode the same school bus, rock dam the creek to make a swimming hole, walked down Speedwell road and catch a ride on the tailgate of the first truck headed to Cullowhee mountain. As an adult Tommy never changed. He was always with a smile on his face and a hug when he seen you. He always asked about Jean. He was simply THE BEST. Prayers for his family.

I coached Tommy's step children. He always had a big smile on his face, just a big teddy bear. When my team had a pretty bad season, he was the first to acknowledge how much fun the kids had and well it went. I don't remember seeing him without that heart warming smile. I have coached for many years, and he is one of those parents that sticks out. He was always willing to help out and refreshing. I know his children, siblings, mother and extended family are hurting and mourning the loss of a gentle soul. His smile would light up any room.. God bless yall and know he touched many lives and will be missed. Prayers for yall..

I’ve known Tommy my whole life. We lived close on the “creek” as we called it. Tommy was always the same no matter what was going on.
He also was the only guy I’ve ever known to never take a book home and still make honor roll.
I will miss his smile and big heart.
