When I was working toward my masters degree at WCU, Dr. Anderson's class was one of my required courses. Everyone talked about how difficult it was and how tough an instructor he was. But, I chose to take his ten day short course in a summer session. There I met a man I will forever respect and admire. He was not only a superior instructor who challenged us on every hand; but, he was also a strong, compelling teacher who expected us to be able to know and use all that we were learning in order to become good educators as well. We became friends during that two week class and continued to converse and enjoy our chance meetings in the years that followed. I will forever be grateful to him for his strength, his wonderful knowledge of his field, his amazing ability to help me internalize what he was teaching, and his passion for what he was doing with future educators. He will live forever in my memory, continuing to challenge me to truly learn and serve as I go through my life. Thank you, Dr. Anderson for being such an inspiration.
