Obituary of Ron Ramseyer

Ronald R. Ramseyer 75, of Sullivan passed away on July 21, 2019 at Harris Regional Hospital in NC after a long battle with COPD, with his loving family by his side. He was born in Michigan to Floyd and Iva Ramseyer. Ron was a graduate of Wayne State University with a Masters degree in Business Administration, was a Vietnam Veteran having served in the Army and had retired from Sony DADC in Terre Haute. He had volunteered at many parks while traveling, including George Rogers Clark, Buffalo Natl River, Grand Canyon Natl Park, Guadalupe Mountains Natl Park, Florida Panther Reserve, Pompeys Pillar Natl Monument and Everglades National Park.

Ron and his loving wife Sherri opened up their home to many international exchange students thru the years whom they loved like their own and still keep in contact with, even traveling overseas to visit with their families. Before Ron had gotten sick he loved to water ski, go boating, hiking, spending time with his grandkids and most of all, enjoyed traveling with Sherri after retirement. He was a wonderful husband, dad, grandpa, and mentor and will be missed by many.

Survivors include his wife Sherri Ramseyer of 30 years; daughters, Angie (Joe) Hinkel of Terre Haute, Toni (Mike) Cibak of Montgomery, brothers, Floyd (Loretta) Ramseyer, Gary (Kim) Ramseyer, Doug (Loretta) Ramseyer, grandchildren, Tristin Osborne, Matthew Hinkel, Alexis Downing, Samantha Cibak, Jacob Cibak, Dustin Cibak, several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He was a friend of Bill Wilson for 30 years.

Services to celebrate his life will be at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday July 30, 2019 at Holmes Memorial Chapel. The family will receive friends from 5:00p.m. until the time of services. Military Honors will be given by the Hymera, Shelburn, Sullivan American legions and the Sullivan VFW. The family suggest that if friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to the National Park of your choice, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
