Obituary of Fannie (Mom) Julia Sellers
Fannie (Mom) J. Moore Sellers, 92, of Monteith Branch Road went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday Sept. 4, 2012 at Mt. Trace Nursing Center.
She was the wife of the late Willie Sellers and daughter of the late Richard and Tinnie Moore.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by sisters Nina Sharp, Frances Ginn, and brothers Ernest Moore and Hayes Moore.
She is survived by sons and daughters -in -law Gary and Peggy Sellers of Candler and Neal and Julie Sellers of Sylva, and daughter and son-in-law Joy and Robert Bates, of Flowery Branch, GA; grandchildren Reggie Sellers, Ronnie Sellers, Jay Sellers, Julie Flores, Jenny Bates and Robin Bates and 6 great grandchildren. She is also survived by many friends and caregivers at Mountain Trace Nursing Center.
She retired from Contel Telephone Company in 1982. She had also worked at Skyland Textile.
A member of Scotts Creek Baptist Church for over 80 years, she had been a Sunday School teacher, Bible School teacher, and an active member of her WMU circle. Her love for her Lord and His church was shown by her continued participation; she remained an active church member up to the time when ill health forced her to cease attending. Her support for her church continued through prayer until the time of her demise.
Her home was always open to friends, neighbors and family. An avid cook, she delighted in sharing her skills with everyone who came into her home. When someone in the community had a need, she was always one of the first to respond.
A Celebration of her life will be at Scotts Creek Baptist Church Saturday Sept. 8 at 11:00 am with the Revs, Judson Rotan, Mike Moore and Rich Peoples officiating. Visitation will be Friday evening Sept. 7 from 6 until 8 pm. at Appalachian Funeral Services. Burial will be at Old Field Cemetery. Donations may be made to Scotts Creek Church, Old Field Cemetery, 97 Steeple Drive, Sylva, NC 28779.
