Wow! What the Hammer family wrote below is right on. No matter how long between times you met up with Rich, it was always a pleasure to be in his company. We feel fortunate to have had the wind in our face on two wheels, strummed guitars, or just be good friends and neighbors with Rich. He is one of the truly coolest people I have ever known. Hope that I may someday be as good and kind hearted as Rich! Dear Alane, and family... my sincere sympathy.

I was shocked to hear of this tragedy. Betty and I met Rich and Alane thru friends here in Cape Coral when we moved here 10 years ago. He always had a smile and a terrific sense of humor. He helped me with a few projects here at the house and was a pretty good hand-man. We played golf once and socialized with friends several times.
Our condolences to the family of Rich's passing. May he rest in peace.

There are no words to express how sad Hammer and I are. I met Dickie many moons ago at engine 28 where he worked with Hammer. He was sitting with some other guys watching the news when my son and my self came in. I liked him at that exact moment. He was funny, caring and helped us a great deal. He was already in Florida when we moved here, we came back from store and his card was in the door. He helped Hammer hang all our blinds. He was one of those people you don't have to see all the time but when you do no matter how long its been its like you start where you left off. Heaven took a great guy way to soon. So so sorry for the family, friends and Alane , my heart hurts. When its our turn to go I hope he is waiting for us at the gate with a glass of wine in his hands. Love you, miss you more

Dick was such a fun loving free spirit! So sad to hear of his passing. We have great memories of the house boat trip we had many years ago. Our prayers and thoughts go out to the family.
