Obituary of Nancy Sue Childers

Nancy Sue Childers, age 82, of Whittier, NC went to her Heavenly Home on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Alden Childers and the daughter of the late Burney Mel and Mattie Lois Heath Adair. 

She was a member of the Westside Church of Christ in Franklin, NC and a member of the Body of Christ for 70 years. Nancy was the author of children's books and poetry and dearly loved her family. She was known as an avid Elvis Presley fan and loved all types of music, especially acapella gospel hymns.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by one son; Kenneth Alden Childers and one sister; Betty Billings.

Nancy is survived by her husband of 64 years; Alden Childers and five children; Kim (Steve) Heasley, Kirk (Sandra) Childers, Kay Childers, Kevin Childers and Karen (Terry) Partain. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, two sisters-in-law and two nieces. 

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 5, 20019 at Appalachian Funeral Services Chapel with John Gurtler officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 until 2:00 pm at the funeral home.
