Obituary of James Ralph DeVane

James Ralph DeVane, 80, of Cullowhee, passed away Thursday morning October 10, 2019. A native of South Alabama, he was the son of the late Woodrow and Frances DeVane. Ralph retired after 35 years as a Mathematics Professor at Western Carolina University. He loved playing golf, traveling and rooting for his Crimson Tide, but his passion was being an educator and loved teaching and helping fellow teachers and students. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife of 30 years Mary and by his brother Bobby.

He is survived by his children;

                                               Lisa DeVane Burrell ( Andy), Gregory DeVane (Terri) , Christopher DeVane (Robin) and Michael DeVane (Kim)

Grandchildren- Paige Penland, Wesley Burrell, Justin DeVane, Jennifer Beane and Patrick Lee

Numerous Great Grandchildren also survive

The family will be receiving friends Saturday October 19, 2019 from 2:00 until 4:00 PM at Appalachian Funeral Services in Sylva, NC.
