Obituary of James Noel Cogdill

James "Jim" Noel Cogdill, age 74, of Sylva, NC went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 17, 2019. He was the husband of the late Joann Melton and the son of the late William Mode and Faye Pannell Cogdill. 

He was a member of Buff Creek Baptist Church. He was retired from WalMart of Franklin, NC after 21 years of service. He loved camping and fishing as well as cooking. Jim dearly loved his family, especially his grandchildren. 

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one brother; Roger Dale "Bob" Cogdill and by his long time companion: Bernice Wood. 

Jim is survived by two daughters; Janet (Larry) Bryant and Angie (Burt) Stevens and five grandchildren: Breanna Bryant, Deana (Jeremy) Sherrill, Carina Bryant, Molly Stevens and Madison Stevens. Two brothers also survive; Harold Cogdill and Larry (Cheryl) Cogdill, a special nephew; Dale Cogdill, two nieces; Cerri Campbell and Michelle Sutton and four nephews; Tab, Billy, Dick and Aaron Cogdill.   

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 20, 2019 at 3:00 pm in the chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services in Sylva, NC with Rev Eddie Stillwell and Rev. David Burch officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service from 1:00 until 3:00 pm at the funeral home.
