Obituary of Betty Dee Graham
Heaven became so much sweeter Tuesday October 29, 2019 as Betty Shook Graham, age 70, of Shook Cove Road, Tuckasegee, ran home to be with her Lord and Savior. Mrs. Graham, beloved Wife, Mother, Sister, Aunt B, Mamaw, & Great-Mamaw, was born in Sylva, North Carolina on June 25, 1949, daughter of the late Dee Wood and Cornelia Ashe Shook.
Betty was a 1967 graduate of Cullowhee High School and retired from West-Care Home Health after a long career of caring for others. She was a long-time faithful member of Tuckasegee Wesleyan Church and never missed an opportunity to share her love of her Lord. She was a Lady Patriot Keeper with the Tuckasegee VFW, Mike Martin Post 9493.
Betty had a true servant’s heart for helping others, loved spoiling her grandbabies, camping, her little dog Rusty, crafts, and crocheting.
Her husband of 51 years, James Ray Graham (Jim), was always right by her side, faithfully caring for her and loving her beyond measure. In addition to her husband, survivors include a son, Paul Graham & wife Christi of Hazelwood, daughter Heather Plemmons & husband Jason of Chester, SC, sister Rebecca Middleton & Edd Austin of Tuckasegee; eight grandchildren, Sydney Walther, Ashton Graham, Kassidy Graham, Shelby Graham, MaKaylah Plemmons McDaniel, Hunter Plemmons, William Graham, & Scotland E. Graham; five great grandchildren, Bodhi McDaniel, Fletcher McDaniel, Lucas McDaniel, Calladee Moore, & Erik Graham Moore; great-niece Payton Nicholson and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Her infant sister, Joyce Ann, and her beloved son, Eric Dee Graham, who she is now holding in her arms, predeceased Mrs. Graham in death.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Friday, November 1, 2019 at Tuckasegee Wesleyan Church. Betty’s Home-going celebration will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, November 2, 2019 at Tuckasegee Wesleyan Church. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Hunter Plemmons, GB McDaniel, Jason Nicholson, Conard Brown, Darryl Talley, and Randy Messer. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Goforth, Tom Brown, and Larry Coggins.
