Obituary of James Alden Beck

James Alden Beck, 79, a lifelong resident of Balsam, North Carolina, passed away Friday October 12, 2012. He was the son of the late Nelson and Eva Beck. He retired from Lea Industries after 46 years of service. He was a member of Balsam Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Bob Beck of Minnesota and Ed Beck of Kansas, and a niece, Janet Beck. Jim is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marie Beck of the home; daughter Anna and husband Martin Whitmire of Candler; daughter Eva, and husband Randy Silver of Hendersonville; granddaughter Monica and grandson Daniel Whitmire; step-granddaughter Amanda Silver; niece Leslie and nephew Philip Beck of Kansas. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 15, at 2 pm at Balsam Baptist Church with the Revs. Johnny Swanger and Phillip Case officiating. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Appalachian Funeral Services in Sylva on Sunday Oct. 14, from 6 until 8 pm. At all other times the family will be at the home. .
