Obituary of Winfred Elders

Winfred Elders, 72, entered into the presence of his Lord on Sunday afternoon, May 3, 2020. He was a son of the late Raymond and Louise Hensley Elders, and was also preceded in death by an infant brother and brother-in-law, Marvin Coggins.

 

A member of Locust Field Baptist Church. He loved the Lord, his church, and gospel singing. He cherished and enjoyed being with his family, especially grandsons Coleman and Ethan. His favorite hobby was fishing. He also loved gardening and sharing it with others.

 

He worked at Buster Brown in the cutting department for many years and retired from Harris Regional Hospital in 2009 after 27 years of employment.

 

He is survived by his wife, Rita Brooks Elders, of 44 years, two sons, Clay Elders of Sylva, and Russell Price (Natalie) of Franklin, and one daughter, Cindi (Dean) Ball of Columbus, Ohio; two brothers, Charles Ray (Shirley) Elders and Edward (Paula) Elders; two sisters, Linda Coggins and Cherry Lee (Butch) Rhinehart; eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

 

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Locust Field Baptist Church.
