Obituary of Becky Donaldson
Marian Rebecca (Walker) Donaldson, 73, of Sylva, passed away on July 17th, 2020 with her husband and son by her side, after a two year battle with cancer.
A native of Haywood County, “Becky” graduated from Pisgah High School and raised her family in Canton. She was a dedicated employee at The American Enka Company, where she later retired and made her home in Sylva, NC.
She is survived by her adoring husband Robert “Bobby” Donaldson, her son Douglas (Lisa) Marsh, step sons Boyd (Kimberly) Donaldson and Kim (Marty) Donaldson, and sister Martha (Bill) Walker Milligan. She will also be remembered by her grandchildren, Nathan, Andrew, David, Shelby, Kelsey, Karly, Jackson, Julie, Jill, and Griffin, and her great grandchildren Kaden and Ava. Becky was predeceased by her parents, Douglas and Dorothy Walker.
Becky had an unconditional love for her family and friends. She always looked for the good in every person and life situation. Her “million dollar” smile, and her gift for truly listening and engaging everyone around her are traits that made her so special and loved. Her joys were times spent with Bobby on their front porch overlooking her beautiful flower gardens, their travels (favorite destinations Helen, GA and any beach), and time with her family and friends. Becky especially looked forward to connecting with her sister, cousins, and aunt on weekly zoom chats and their annual reunions.
A memorial service will be held at 2 pm July 25th at Appalachian Funeral Services 165 Skyland Drive Sylva, NC, with Rev. Chip Plemmons officiating. The family will start receiving friends at 1 pm at the funeral home. All attendees are requested to please wear masks and practice social distancing.
