Obituary of Kathy Cross

Kathy Cross, 69 of Sylva, passed away on Monday, August 17, 2020. She is the daughter of the late Dee and Jessielee Coggins. Preceding her in death were one brother, Lester, and two sisters: Jean and Carolyn Coggins.

She is survived by her husband, Chuck of twenty-five years; brother, Harold (Jan) Coggins; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and loving her dogs, Midas, golden retriever, and Little Joe, border collie.  Kathy retired from Southwestern Community College after thirty-one years. She had been the Executive Director at United Christian Ministries for eighteen years. 

Kathy was an avid reader who loved to sew and travel.  Her and Chuck enjoyed taking Sunday drives and attending bluegrass festivals. She also loved gardening, plants, flowers, and was known for her green thumb.

Pallbearers: Harold, Jr., Justin, Steve, & Brian Coggins, Homer Fisceaux, Brad Stillwell, Jackie Green. 

Honorary Pallbearers: Members of the Savannah Fire Department and the Volunteers of United Christian Ministries.

The family will receive friends from 5:00PM - 9:00PM, Friday, August 21, 2020 at Appalachian Funeral Services. Funeral Services for Kathy will be held at 2:00PM, Saturday, August 22, 2020 at Fall Cliff Baptist Church.  Reverends Tommy Ashe and Eddie Stillwell, and Shirley Kool, officiating.  A Graveside Service will follow at Fall Cliff Cemetery.
