Obituary of Lois Brown Hooper
Lois Brown Hooper, age 81 of Sylva, received her angel’s wings on Thursday, August 20, 2020, after a short period of declining health. She passed at home with her daughter and best friend by her side. She was born on November 4, 1938, in Jackson County, NC to the late Bernard Bartlett and Ellen (Smith) Brown.
Lois served the Lord. She was a member of East Sylva Baptist Church, but recently attended Sugar Creek Baptist Church. Her passions included potting and replanting, and collecting owl and hummingbird memorabilia. Affectionately known as “Mamma Lois or “Nana Hooper”, she babysat for over 100 children up until the pandemic prevented her from doing so. She truly enjoyed spending time with her loving family and friends.
She will be dearly missed by her children, Deloise Anderson, Richard (Connie) Hooper, Dale Hooper; grandchildren, Charles B. (Kimberly) Hooper, Dustin M. (Brittany) Hooper, her one and only granddaughter, Krista H. Beck (Nathan), Daylon Hooper, Brian Hooper; 8 great-grandchildren; very special niece, Kathy Bradley Peek; and dear friends, Jackie Brown, Virginia Mathis, Maxie Carpenter; and many others
Lois was preceded in death by her parents and loving husband, Charles C. Hooper; son, Michael “Dooner” Hooper; sister, Evelyn Bradley (Max); and son-in-law, Johnny Anderson.
Pallbearers: Aaron "Twiggy" Green, Brandon Green, C.B. Hooper, Dustin Hooper, David Mathis, and Doug Mathis.
