My sincere appreciation goes out to all who given me and my family such loving support. Janice was my ALL! I will hang on to memories we had together for close to forty years. She always loved the Christmas season and decorated the house nicely. Janice, I'll honor you and do my best to decorate as you would have. I'll miss you so much!!!
Love Bob

Janice was a great lady and also a good friend. I went to middle and high school with Janice, and we were good friends. But that is nothing new, for Janice was kind and sweet to everyone. I also have a lot of good memories from back-in-the-day and how our class was the best class ever! The last time I talked with Janice was at our twentieth class reunion, and although I hadn't talked to Janice in many years now since, she would have my brother Reggie to tell me hello. My heart and thoughts are with her Husband Bob and their Children, and also to her Parents and closest friends!
God Bless You All!

I went to elementary and high school with Janice and part of that time in high school we were best friends. I have a lot of good memories from back then, even though I hadn't talked to Janice in many years now and we went our separate ways. My heart and thoughts are with her family and all those others who were touched by her life.

I first met Janice when she worked with Coach2Coach for DPI and I was a teacher recruiter at WRESA. She was a delightful person and so dedicated to the teaching profession. Janice and Dianne both helped mentor me through the National Board process, as they did for many others. We recently renewed our acquaintance as Janice became a Delta Kappa Gamma sister. The quote "It is not the years in your life, but the life in your years" so aptly fits this vibrant, outstanding woman who touched many lives and will be missed. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to all of her family.
Sincerely,
Amy Hobbs

I taught at Fairview with Janice for five years in the 90's. Janice was always happy and smiling and knew what was important ad what was not. The children in her classes loved her! She was well respected as a leader and master teacher. I knew if this young teacher needed advice ..I just needed to "go ask Janice." She was always telling funny stories about her husband and sons and it was clear that she was blessed and she knew it. She was passionate about education and I so enjoyed knowing her and working with her. She was positive and forward thinking and loved her family. When you taught with Janice you wanted to be a better teacher yourself.

I first got to know Janice when we taught a course together three different semesters approximately 25 years ago. Janice was teaching 6th grade at Fairview Elementary School. This was in our program at WCU known as the Model Clinical Teaching Program. I went to Fairview and we planned each week’s class during her planning period. This was a wonderful experience for our students because they had the advantage of a current master teacher co-teaching their class. Janice was outstanding and relayed the practice of teaching to them and they loved it. Teachers, new or experienced, have lost a champion, someone who understood them, who loved them, and who worked to support them throughout her career.

I have know Janice all my life. We would run into each other occasionally because we never left the area in our careers. We ran into each other a few weeks ago at a WCU ballgame. Janice was so happy and said she loved her job. She was most excited telling me about her children and grandchildren. Janice was always a good friend. I remember in High School I would have never made it through without her helping me with Math and Chemistry!!! Janice was a kind and wonderful person dedicated to her family and education throughout her career. I send my sincere sympathy to her family. You will be in my thoughts and prayers as you go through this difficult time.

Aunt Janice was always so good to Sarah and I. There are so many great memories, but my favorite is out summer beach trip to Holden Beach. She would walk David, Adam, Sarah and I to the ocean each morning, and we would go tearing across the wooden deck with our dump trucks and DOH cars. So many other great as well, and too many to recount. Janice, you were a wonderful aunt, mentor, colleaugue, and friend. You will be greatly missed!
