Only heard him once, a powerful message on salt. I've never forgotten it. A great messenger for God. Isa. 41:10

I met Sherrill in the late 90's when he was preaching in Whittier, N.C. at Patterson Chapel.
He took us right in and we felt much liberty to minister there. Always felt God's presence there, One time he asked us to sing a song before Sunday School (singing service to follow) The Holy Spirit got to moving in there and the alter filled up and we sang, prayed, and ministered for about an hour. Sherrill said let's all pray, then he said, We've already had a "meetin" let's dismiss and go get something to eat... Loved him, have not seen him in several years. Prayers for his family and friends.

Sherrill Ammons was a great man of God. His music ministry and preaching ministry impacted many lives here in this county and far beyond. Many years ago Nelda and I returned home to the Tuckasegee Parsonage after hearing him preach in one of the Canada churches. We had recently had attended a Southern Baptist Convention meeting in New Orleans and agreed that Sherrill’s sermon that evening would have been well received at the national convention. We loved him as did all who knew him. We regret we will be out of town for his funeral. I’ve said this for years,”At a funeral service God always shows up for His own”. I know God will be there in a powerful way. Nelda and I offer our deepest condolences to the family and prayers for your comfort and God’s grace in the days ahead.
