Obituary of Hattalean Norman

Hattalean Frizzell Norman, age 87 of Sylva, NC. passed away Tuesday, November 10, 2020.   She was born on March 17, 1933, in Jackson County, to the late John Alexander and Jessie Ashe Frizzell.

Hattalean was a member of Ochre Hill Baptist Church where she once served as church librarian and a Sunday School teacher.  As a cancer survivor she volunteered in the Reach to Recovery program. She retired from Dayco after 33 years of service. She loved reading her Bible, gardening, and bird watching.  One of her greatest joys was spending time with her family. This inspired her to write a book about the time she spent with them as well as her childhood memories.

She will be dearly missed by her loving children: Pat Norman and Susan Norman; sibling: R.L. Frizzell (Francis); grandchildren: Jason Norman (Brandi), Michael Norman, Christi Kennedy, Daniel (Mimi) Parris, James Norman, and Joshua Norman; sisters-in-law: Kathleen Frizzell and Ruth Norman; 14 great grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren and granddaughter-by-heart, Marissa Ellsworth.

She was also preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Allen Eugene Norman; son: Gary Norman; daughter-in-law: Willa Zoe Norman; siblings: Muriel Frizzell, John A. Frizzell and her beloved pet, Sonny.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the doctors and staff at Skyland Care Center for their loving and compassionate care.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00PM on Thursday, November 12, 2020, at Norman Blanton Cemetery, Sylva, NC, with Revs. John Swanger and Earl Holden officiating.
