Obituary of James Pearson Pannell

James Pearson Pannell, age 77, of Sylva died Monday, November 26, 2012. Mr. Pannell was born July 20, 1935 in Jackson County, NC, he is the son of the late Garnie Odell and the late Dollie Johnson Pannell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Pannell and two sisters, Geneva Pannell and Marie Taylor. He was employed as a carpenter, specializing in cabinet construction. He was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church and Woodmen of the World. He loved gardening, his cattle, hunting, fishing, and exploring the Blue Ridge Parkway. Pearson is survived by his wife, Doris Jenkins Pannell; two sons, Tim and Carolyn Pannell and Keith and Christy Pannell, all of Sylva; one daughter, Annette and Jack Sutton of Sylva; four grandchildren, Andy Sutton of Rocky Mount, NC, Justin, Shandell and Cody Pannell, all of Sylva. Various nieces and nephews also survive. A funeral service is planned for Wednesday, Nov. 28 at 7:00 pm in the Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services, with Reverend Mike Fox and Reverend Tommy Ashe officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 pm prior to the service at the Funeral Home. Internment will occur at Addie Cemetery on Thursday, November 29 at 11:00 am. . .
