Obituary of Kathy Regina Pace

Kathy Regina Pace, 63, of Sylva, went home to be with the Lord, Monday January 11, 2021. A native and a lifelong resident of Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Perry Davis and Joann Smith Mathis.

Kathy retired from Western Carolina University in the housekeeping Department. She enjoyed gardening, tending to her flowers and reading. She loved her animals, especially her dogs and cat. What Kathy really enjoyed the most and cherished is time with her family, her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be missed.

In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her brother, Ricky Wayne Mathis

Kathy is survived by her husband of 11 years Kenneth Pace

2 Daughters; Regina Payne (Jeremiah)Townsend of Hendersonville

                      Amy Payne Buchanan of Sylva

7 Grandchildren, 8 Great Grandchildren and one on the way

Sister- Gracia Mathis (Charles Howard) Blackburn of Sylva 

Brother- Denton Eugene Mathis of Sylva

2 Stepsons- Kenneth Pace Jr and Seneca Lee Pace both of Waynesville

and several nieces and nephews also survive

A Memorial Service will be held 3:00 PM Saturday January 16, 2021 in the Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services with the Rev. Eddie Stillwell officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 pm prior to the Service at the Funeral Home.
