Obituary of George Hair

George Hair, age 72, of Sylva, NC, passed away on Monday, January 25, 2021 as the result of Covid 19. He was the husband of Mary Jean Platner Hair and the son of the late Earl Hair and the late Mary Elizabeth Stewart. 

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his mother-in-law; Betty Platner.

George is survived by his wife of 51 years; Mary Jean Hair, to whom he always lovingly referred to as, "the sunshine of my life," one daughter; Jennifer (Jack) Williams, one sister; Lillian Elizabeth Hutto, and one brother; Charles Stewart. He is further survived by four nieces, six great nieces, and two great nephews. George is also survived by his loyal cat: Spencer. 

He was the owner of Geno Air Conditioning and Heating Company, which he founded in 1979. He is survived by many loyal employees and former employees. He loved riding motorcycles, gardening, and traveling. 

A memorial service will be held outdoors on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Appalachian Funeral Services with Rev. Craig Williams officiating. Social distancing and masks will be required.
