Your family is in our thoughts and prayers. Steve was a real blessing to my older children when he was assistant principal at Scotts Creek. Even after many years, he would always ask me about them if he saw me. I don't think I ever saw him without a smile on his face and a kind word to give. He was truly a special person!

I will forever be grateful to Mr. Jones for the caring and kindness that he showed my daughter when she was at Scotts Creek. He accepted her as she was and was her guardian angel. He kept a watchful eye on her and always offered an understanding and encouraging word to her. As she put it best, "Mr. Jones took me under his wing." That was the kind man who was her principal but also our friend. He never changed; always a smile, always a friendly greeting no matter where we saw him. He will truly be missed by us and by so many.

I came to know Steve through his role as a school administrator when he collaborated many times with us at SCC to create and expand higher education opportunities for Jackson County youth. Steve was such a kind and caring person, a good friend, and a true advocate for children and education. His friends at SCC will miss him so much, and our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Life sent us to different destinations and just as you were in my wedding you will always be the Best Man. Your family and Jackson County has truly lost an advocate. As a member of the SW High Class of '79 original super friends please tell Doug and Roger hello. At my appointed time we will reunite and enjoy heaven together. Thanks for the memories. Rest now in the presence of Jesus.
