Oddly, worlds fail. We truly enjoyed working with Erica, but probably, more importantly, we loved playing and laughing with her.
Erica never forgot what it is like to be a child. That is a rare and valuable commodity. Trust us; we know.
The outpouring of feeling speaks for itself. Like so many, our hearts are broken. What can one do with something so unwelcome and frankly, unfair?
Make sure to tell the truth. Work for what you believe to be right. Accept that you may get it wrong. Regardless, do it with empathy and all of your heart.
Erica invited children and adults alike to join her in these every single day. We can honor her by trying to remember to do likewise. We suspect she would appreciate it.
We are proud to consider ourselves part of the vast, extended Waldrop family.
Much love to Ella, Edna, Papa Dave, and Brad,
Kristin & Jonathan

I remember riding the bus with Erica and Brad. I was one of the younger ones on the bus at the time. Erica took up for me many of times. Then she would sit with me to make sure I was ok. She was always so nice and kind to me. It was a sad day for me when Erica got her licenses and stop riding the bus. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

I soooo enjoyed our political conversations that always turned into discussions about our personal lives which led to a valued short lived friendship. You left an imprint on my soul and I will honor it by continuing our fight for moral Justice. "Tis' better to light one candle, than, to curse the darkness" you, my friend, were a candle in this dark world.

When the power went out at our house one winter, it was Erica and Ella who welcomed us into their home to stay until the power was back on. This is one of my fondest memories of Erica as we all sat in the living room, played games, and laughed. It was this kind of generosity and love that I, my family, and countless others remember Erica by. She will be missed deeply, as only someone who loved and was loved deeply could be.

I can try to describe what Erica was to me, but I'll never do her justice. She was my best friend, my partner in crime and my life-long inspiration. She was both the angel AND the imp whispering in my ear. I've never known anyone more passionately alive than Erica Waldrop, and I doubt I ever will. She lived every single moment of her forty-eight years.
I will remember Erica as a rebel, a hell raiser and a force for good in the universe. She relished a fight if the cause was good, and she never turned down a chance to stick up for the underdog. Erica was the kind of person you wanted with you in the trenches. You knew she would guard your back so fiercely that you almost felt sorry for anyone dumb enough to come after you.
My entire family loved Erica, and I felt the same about her family. There are those in our lives who turn us into the people we'll be. I feel unbelievably blessed to have grown up with Erica and the Waldrop family.
I've been thinking about the best way to honor Erica's life. The answer seems obvious: fight for the causes she believed in, kick butt and take names.
I love you, Erica. And I will miss you every single day. KRISTEN

I am so sorry to hear that Erica has passed. She was a wonderful, kind and patient soul when she had my daughter for speech therapy! That boost that Ms. Erica gave her did well once she was ready to begin Kindergarten. She was reading into the first grade and it was just very reassuring to me that she helped her with the sounds of the alphabet. She was a treasure to the kids in the county helping them get off to a good start and will be missed! May God guide and comfort you in the days, weeks and months ahead and you all will be in my thoughts and prayers! And the road gets unbearable think of the good times and the time you did have together! I'm positive there are innumerable times knowing how outgoing Erica was! It's the only way I've been able to personally survive the loss of loved ones myself!!
