Obituary of Vance Neal Kirkland

On Wednesday, March 3rd, 2021, Vance Neal Kirkland, loving father and a great friend of many, went home to be with the Lord at the age of 61. 

Vance was born on February 15, 1960 in Macon County, NC. He lived most of his life in Jackson County. He was a carpenter and a tradesman of many skills. 

He is preceded in death by his father; Frank Kirkland and one brother; Tex Kirkland. 

Surviving are his mother; Mary F. Owens and two brothers; Kenneth Kirkland and Thad Kirkland. He is also survived by two daughters; Crystal (Jeter) Baldwin and Cassie (Dulane) Elders, six grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. 

Vance had a passion for helping others, enjoying the outdoors, and collecting antiques. He loved life and lived it to the fullest and was loved by many. 

Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services on Sunday, March 7, 2021 at 2:30 pm with Rev. Eddie Stillwell officiating. Burial will follow in the New Hope Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:30 until 2:30 pm at the funeral home.    

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be given in Vance's name to Appalachian Funeral Services to offset the cost of the funeral services.
