Jim gave me my first job at WCU as a student worker and was so easy to get along with. I always remembered him saying “Bruce take and do this or that”, I really liked working for him. 20 years later in law enforcement still and Jim had a part in that. He will be missed by everyone in the law enforcement community. Godspeed buddy!

Glenda,Wendy, and all the other family. So sorry for your loss. Jim was a kind thoughtful and friendly man who always greeted me with a smile even when we were on opposite sides in the courtroom. And he was so proud of his family.

I am humbled by the friendship Jim and I have. From a very young and inexperienced 21 year old Deputy Sheriff, Jim mentored me through many circumstances that Law Enforcement Officers face. He repeatedly reminded me that, “The most important thing in being a cop is going home after your shift is over, “Kid”! I listened and I watched his ability to defuse anger and calm the hostility in people. Another piece of advise was,”
I’d rather talk to someone for 30 minutes than fight them for 30 seconds”! A great friend, an awesome officer and a great example to others.
My Condolences to the family, friends and all the brothers and sisters who wear the badge!
Rest In Peace Taylor!
