Obituary of Kathee Jones

Kathee Pate Jones passed away early morning Tuesday July 13, 2021 after fighting cancer for almost 10 years. Kathee beat cancer once but it unfortunately came back. For the past 3 years she fought with every ounce of her body to kick cancer’s ass for a second time but her body had been through too much. 

As a teacher she molded countless individuals into pursuing their passion, always steadfast in the belief that dreams were worth chasing and could be attained. She found hers in the mountains where a peaceful life with friends and family was the lighthouse that called her home. 

She will be dearly missed by her parents, Bobby and Donna Pate and loving significant other, Buster Deitz; daughter, Katie Jones; brothers Elliot Pate, and the late Lon Pate; as well as her special four-legged companions, Ginger, Max, and Buddy.

The family will receive friends from 2:00PM-3:00PM on Saturday, July 17, 2021, at Appalachian Funeral Services of Sylva NC.  A Memorial Service will follow at 3:00PM.
