Obituary of JoAnn Stokes

JoAnn Stokes (Jones), age 82 of Sylva NC, passed away on Wednesday July 14, 2021.   She was born on March 6, 1939, in Graham County, to the late Albert and Emma Jones.

She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. JoAnn loved the outdoors. She enjoyed spending time in her flower and vegetable gardens.

She will be dearly missed by her loving husband of 60 years, John Stokes; son, Frank Stokes; sisters, Nina, and Dora Smith.

JoAnn was preceded in death by her brothers, Albert, Porter, Clifford, and Andrew Jones; and sister, Patsy Boyd.

The family will receive friends from 6:00PM-7:00PM on Monday, July 19, 2021, at Appalachian Funeral Services of Sylva NC.  A Memorial Service will follow at 7:00PM.  Reverends Avery Brown, Dennis Burrell, and Justin Hall, officiating.

Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Appalachian Funeral Services, Sylva NC.
