Obituary of Aileen Galloway Owen

Aileen Galloway Owen, 87 of Tuckasegee, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 21, 2021. Aileen was born in Jackson County on July 10, 1934, to the late Cos and Bessie Owen Galloway.

Aileen enjoyed fishing, gardening, and traveling out West with her family. She also loved feeding and taking care of her animals. Aileen was a faithful pastor’s wife. Her husband, Rev. Truett C. Owen, pastored seven different churches in 67 years. She was a member of Woods Memorial Baptist Church in Balsam Grove.

Aileen is survived by her husband of 69 years, Rev. Truett C. Owen; daughters, Christine Frady (George), Nancy Owen (Foye), and Karen Owen (David); sons, Joel Owen ( Inez), and David “Snooky” Owen; grandchildren, Shane Quinn, Paul Quinn, Natalie Quinn Stephens, Kim Garrett, Lisa Owen, Rev. Keith Owen, Dean Owen, Deidre Massingale, Carlton Anderson, Timmy Anderson, Rev. Davis Owen, Rev. Travis Owen, and Sheena Messer; 25 great-grandchildren; 9 great great-grandchildren; siblings, Joann Connelly (David), Kathleen Hoxit, Dewey Galloway, and Dallas Galloway (Legenia). Several nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to her parents, Aileen is preceded in death by her daughter, Margaret Owen; son, Verlin Ray Owen; and daughter-in-law, Vonda Lee Owen.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, July 24, 2021, at Woods Memorial Baptist Church. Rev. Mike Queen and Buster Mccall will be officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00-2:00pm prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
