Obituary of Joel Franklin Adcock
Joel Franklin Adcock of Sylva passed away on July 20th, 2021 at the age of 63. He was born in Dayton, Ohio and the adopted son of the late Eva and Howard Adcock Jr.
Joel was a great athlete. He played baseball, football, and basketball at Cullowhee High School as well as being a member of the chorus and the clogging team. Joel was known as “The Colonel” and was a member of the great ‘75 state baseball champs! He loved sports and especially loved the Florida State Seminoles where his mother graduated from. He also enjoyed going to Asheville Tourist baseball games, fishing, and spending time with his loyal dog, Lester.
What he loved even more were his sons and grandchildren. He leaves behind 3 sons, Joshua Adcock (Jillian), of Asheville, NC, Jacob Adcock (Jessica) of Texas, and Jesse Adcock, of Illinois. He also leaves behind 5 grandchildren; Erin, Alisanna, Ivan, Oscar, and Jackson.
The family will have a private memorial service to honor Joel. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to a charity or shelter for animals of your choice.
