Obituary of Margaret "Peggy" Simmons
Margaret (Peggy) Arlene Wright Simmons, 84, of Whitter, NC, passed away on Friday, July 30, 2021, in her home.
Peggy was born on February 6, 1937, in Tulsa, OK to the late Samuel Arthur (Art) and Mary Ethel (Curtis) Wright. She was a 1955 graduate of Central High School in Tulsa, OK. She moved to central Florida following her high school graduation where she enjoyed working for community banks. She left the First National Bank of Tampa, FL in 1975 and moved to Bryson City, NC to work for Smoky Mountain Tire Company from which she retired. She treasured spending time with her family and friends on her front porch watching the birds who visited the large hemlock trees and birdfeeders in her front yard.
Peggy is survived by her children, George Felix Simmons, Jr. (Wendy), Columbus, GA; Robert Arthur Simmons (Joanie Weeks), Bryson City, NC; Barbara Arlene Simmons Calhoun (Jim), Raleigh, NC; grandsons, Ryan Travis Simmons (Samantha), Athens, GA; Brian Allen Simmons (Crystal), Bryson City, NC; and Joshua Curtis Simmons, Columbus, GA; sisters, Mary Joanne Jones, Tulsa, OK and Beth Colleen Randolph (Verle), Owasso, OK.
In addition to her parents, her husband, George Felix Simmons and brother-in-law, Robert (Bob) Jones, precedes her in death.
