Obituary of Debra Lynn Brooks

Debra Lynn Brooks, age 61 of Sylva, NC, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, August 26, 2021.   

Debbie loved to live life to the fullest and brought a smile to anyone she met. She loved her family and friends, always putting their needs before her own. Debbie was known at sports functions where she was the loudest cheerleader for her children and grandchildren. She loved to travel and enjoyed participating in many fishing tournaments with her husband Kenneth during their years together before Kenneth’s passing.

She was a member of Old Savannah Baptist Church and attended as much as she was able.

She will be dearly missed by her sons Kenneth L. Brooks, Jonathan R. Brooks, Justin A. Brooks, James C. Brooks all of Sylva, NC. Daughter Erika Bond of Nashville, TN. 

Sisters: Pamela Graham, Tina Holmes, Mary Bell, and Leona Lakin. She leaves behind 12 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Debbie is preceded in death by her loving husband Kenneth Brooks, her mother Willie Mae Mills, father Herbert Gage, sister Mary Lee Quigley and brother James Navin.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2pm on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 in the chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services. Burial will follow at Old Savannah Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-2 pm prior to the service. Rev. Eddie Stillwell and Rev. Austin Frady will be officiating.
