Obituary of Shirley Irene Mace

Shirley Irene Clawson Mace, 73, of Sylva, passed away Thursday, September 30, 2021. Shirley was born on February 18, 1948 in Jackson County to the late Jim and Lillian Clawson.

Shirley enjoyed crocheting, and listening to country and gospel music. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Shirley was a member of Laurel Branch Baptist Church in Sylva, NC.

Shirley is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Mace; sisters, Brenda Clawson and Trish Tucker; and brother, Donald Clawson. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to her parents, Shirley is preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Mace; brother, Leroy Clawson; and sisters, Lois and Joyce Clawson.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, October 4, 2021 in the chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services. Rev. Carl Stepp will be officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00- 2:00pm prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens.
