Obituary of Betty Jo Painter

Betty J. Painter, 86, passed away Sunday, October 3, 2021. Mrs. Painter was a kind and passionate woman who loved her family and friends dearly. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Eldridge Painter.

Mrs. Painter attended the First Presbyterian Church of Sylva where she had been a member since 1949. She retired from Wachovia Bank, having served as Vice-President and Branch Manager in Cullowhee, NC. She was a former member of the American Cancer Society and served as the unit President when established in 1972. She was also a board member of the United Way. 

Mrs. Painter is survived by her daughter, Debbie Woods and husband Barry; two grandchildren, Amanda Murajda and husband William and Nathan Woods; and one great granddaughter, Whitney Murajda.

A Funeral Service will be held Sunday October 10, 2021, at 3:00 pm at the First Presbyterian Church of Sylva. The family will receive friends from 1:30 - 3:00 pm prior to the service at the Church. Burial will be at Keener Cemetery.
