Obituary of Julia Lee Queen
Julia Lee Queen (Buckmaster), died on Tuesday October 5, 2021, in Sylva NC, at the age of 85.
Julia Lee Buckmaster married Cecil Doc Queen in 1955. They met on a blind date. They welcomed Cecil Ray Queen in 1956 and Timothy Lee Queen in 1959 and Steven Ellen Queen in 1961 and Julia Ann Queen in 1964. Julia was a wonderful, loving caring mother and grandmother who loved to paint birds and outside scenery along with painting family portraits. She was known for her famous buttermilk waffles. She loved all animals. Julia worked for Harrah’s Cherokee Casino as a Gaming Host and loved getting to interact and talk with people from all walks of life.
Julia is survived by her husband, Cecil Doc Queen; who she celebrated her 66th Wedding Anniversary with on August 13, 2021. She is also survived by her children, Cecil Ray Queen, wife Cynthia Marie Queen, Timothy Lee Queen, and Julia Ann Queen; grandchildren, Jennifer Ann Queen, fiancé George Melton, Kelly Marie (Queen) Clark, husband, Mark Allen Clark, Atreyu Edward Queen, Trevor Ray Queen, Cecil Ryan Queen, Jillian (Queen) Brigham, and Tiffany Marie Queen; great-grandchildren, Gracyn Marie Clark, Brendan Allen Clark, and Alleighya PennyAnn Melton Queen. She is also survived by her sister Eytoile Thornton of Warren, Michigan and nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Eytoile (Burlingame) Buckmaster, son, Steven Ellen Queen; siblings, J.C. Buckmaster, Melvin Buckmaster, Shirley Cordes, and Sally Ann Arnold; and brother-in-law, Al Thornton of Warren, Michigan.
No memorial service or funeral is planned. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to Alzheimer’s Association Alzheimer's Association: Donate to Fight Alzheimer's Disease
