Obituary of James Weldon Nations
Weldon Nations, age 95, of Whittier, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 14, 2021. He was the husband of Lois Nations and the son of Jim and Bessie Nations.
Weldon was a World War II veteran of the US Army and was retired as a carpenter from Western Carolina University. He was the last remaining charter member of the Whittier Church of God.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife; Frankie Roper Nations and three sisters.
Weldon is survived by one son; Charles and his wife Rebecca Nations, two granddaughters; Carla (Mike) Nations Lovelace and Jamie Nations Hampton, and five great grandchildren; Cody, Austin, Daniel, Cayce, and Chesney. Two sisters; Frankie Sheehan and Mary Helen Evrett along with several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at 2:00 pm at the Whittier Church of God. Rev. Shane Silvers, Rev. Eddie Stillwell, and Rev. Ned Pressley will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 until 2:00 pm at the church.
Burial will take place at 10:00 am on Monday, October 18, 2021 at the Union Hill Cemetery in Whittier, NC with full military rites accorded at the graveside.
