Obituary of Marvin Dee Coggins

Marvin Dee Coggins, age 68, of Whittier died Thursday, January 24, 2013 in Sylva. Mr. Coggins was born July 16, 1944 in Jackson County. He is the son of the late Leonard Coggins and the late Mattie (Buchanan) Mason. He was preceded in death by a daughter Sharon Coggins and one brother Alvin Coggins. He retired from BASF as a Research Technician. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Lynda (Elders) Coggins; one daughter Karen Coggins of Whittier; three brothers Jesse Coggins of Franklin, Thomas Coggins of Sylva, and Tim Coggins of Glenville; one sister Edna Mahaffey of Gastonia; two grandchildren Dustin Nicholson, Stasha and husband Randy Hyatt; three great grandchildren Mariah, Brandon and Mckynzie Hyatt. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, January 27, 2013 in the Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services. The Revs. Tommy Ashe, Terry Taylor, and David Burch will officiate. Burial will follow in the Elders Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Dustin Nicholson, Brandon Elders, Clay Elders, Randy Hyatt, David Coggins, and Tony Brown. . .
