Obituary of Evelyn Bryson Austin

Evelyn Bryson Austin, 82, of Sylva, passed away Thursday January 31, 2013. A native of Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Statesville Bryson and Elizabeth Bradley . Evelyn was a member of the Eastern Star and a former member of the Golden Age Senior Center, The Democratic Women’s Club and was a Deaconess at Liberty Baptist Church. She volunteered at MedWest Harris Hospital Chaplains Office as well as the local nursing homes. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Austin, her son Thomas Lyndon Austin, 5 sisters, 2 brothers and two daughters, Elizabeth McDonald and Linda Mattress. She is survived by a son- Keldon Austin and wife Barbara of Sylva; two daughters- Joyce Stratton of Sylva and Carolyn Love and her husband Charles of Franklin; special son- Ellis Blazer of Sylva, two brothers- Dwight Bryson of Asheville and Scotty Bryson of Chicago, IL; two sisters- Staci Galloway of Anderson, SC and Opal Peterson of Greenville, SC; 5 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be 1:00 PM Wednesday February 6 at Liberty Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Lee officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8:00 PM Tuesday at Appalachian Funeral Services. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens.
