Obituary of LaVerne Elizabeth Jones

La Verne Elizabeth Jones, 72, Sylva passed away Thursday morning, February 28, 2013. She is the daughter of the late Willard and the late Bessie Mae (Bryson) Woods. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and enjoyed singing in their choir. She loved taking care of her flowers as well as serving as a good cook for family and friends. She would always volunteer for church projects and enjoyed making arts and crafts. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Dempsy Jones. She is survived by her son Rick (Pam) Jones of Sylva; three grandsons, Luke (Amanda) Jones, Spencer (Maggie) Jones, and Toby Jones, all of Sylva; four granddaughters, Ashlan (Angel), Meadow, Willow, and Cherry; three sisters, Rosa Lea (Howard) Parris, Gertrude (Curtis) Allison, and Willa Mae Cunningham, all of Sylva. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Monday, March 4, 2012 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Avery Brown and Rev. Dennis Burrell officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm on Sunday at Appalachian Funeral Services in Sylva. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75231 or the American Cancer Society, 120 Executive Park, Asheville, NC 28801. . .
