Obituary of Fred Woodrow Bumgarner
Fred Woodrow Bumgarner, 94, passed away Thursday February 28, 2013 at his residence in Cullowhee surrounded by his loving family. A native of Jackson County, he was the son of the late Bowman and Laura Stewart Bumgarner. A US Army Veteran he served during WWII, he had spent most of his working career in Law Enforcement and retired from Western Carolina University. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Strickland Bumgarner, 4 Sisters- Maude Hooper, Lucy Holden, Mae Pressley, Baye Moore and by 2 Brothers- Olin and Alvin Bumgarner
He is survived by
2 Sons- Charles F. Bumgarner of Cullowhee
Nelson G. Bumgarner and his wife Nancy of Sylva
4 Grandchildren- Briana Hollins ( Tyree ), Brett Bumgarner, Jennifer Bumgarner, Robbie Bumgarner
3 Great Grandchildren
Funeral Services will be held 3:00 PM Sunday March 3 in the Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services with the Rev. Loy Kennedy officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3:00 PM prior to the Service at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Hooper-Speedwell Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hooper-Speedwell Cemetery Fund, c/o Janette Fox, Silver Fox Dr, Cullowhee, NC 28723
Pallbearers will be Ralph Hooper, Doug Moore, David Ward, Johnny Douglas, Travis Cook and Kim Cook.
