Obituary of Melody Ann Wood

Melody Ann Wood, 56, of Sylva, passed away Saturday February 23, 2013 after a long battle with cancer. A native of Florida, she was the daughter of the late Jerry Blakeman and Wanda Boyette Johnson. She had been a resident of Jackson County the past 9 years. She was a Medicaid case worker for Jackson County Department of Social Services. She loved reading, cross stitching, playing bingo and spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Mark Wood of Sylva 1 Son- Nathan Corey Wood and his fiancé Whitney of Arcadia, Fla 3 Sisters- Tammy Helmer, Shelly Blakeman, Penny Decker all of Florida 3 Grandchildren- Keely and Madison Wood, Chase Meredith Funeral Services will be held 7:00 pm on Monday, March 4 at Appalachian Funeral Services Chapel with Randall Moss officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 until 7:00 prior to the service at the Funeral Home. A Committal Service will be held at a later date in Arcadia, Florida.
