Obituary of Betty Jane Wilkes

Betty Wilkes, 81, of Sylva died Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at Medwest Harris in Sylva. Betty was born January 27, 1932 in Jackson County NC. She is the daughter of the late Roy and the late Swannie (Mills) Jones. She was preceded in death by her first husband Dewey Coggins and brothers Annas, Guy and John Ray Jones and sister Belle Cogdill. Betty loved working with her flowers and making flower arrangements and cooking. She is survived by her husband: Allenne Wilkes and a stepdaughter Martha Carpenter and stepson Tommy Wilkes all of Sylva Three sisters Mary Hall, Billie Jo Buchanan and Mae Holden all of Sylva. One brother Noel Jones of Robbinsville. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday March9, 2013 in the Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services with the Rev. J.D. Grant and Rev. Johnny Norris officiating. Burial will be in Cogdill Henry Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Friday March 8, 2013 at the funeral home.
