Obituary of Benny Ray Parris

Benny Ray Parris, age 75, of Sylva died Thursday, April 4, 2013 at home in Sylva. Mr. Parris was born January 17, 1938 in Jackson County. He is the son of the late Dewitt and the late Dorcus (Parks) Parris. Benny loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and especially his granddaughter. He was a veteran of the US Air Force. He retired from the Railroad as a brake-man He is survived by his wife: Mary (Sutton) Parris, of the home; two sons, Patrick Parris of Sylva, Jamie Parris of Alaska; two sisters, Gail Melton of Sylva and Patsy McClure of Lake Junaluska; and one granddaughter, Dakota MacKencie Parris; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held Sunday, April 7, 2013 at 3:00 pm in the East Sylva Baptist Church with the Rev. Reed Benson and Rev. Lloyd Fish officiating.
